If launching your hire boat from Whangaparaoa you have four boat ramp options:

  • Big Manly Beach: This is a stunning sandy beach on the North side of the Peninsula, it has a large boat trailer parking area, changing rooms and childrens play area. Great place to drop the girls and children if they don't want to go out on the boat. If using this location you will have to launch your boat from the sand.
  • Arkles Bay: This is a small beach on the South side of the Peninsula that has limited parking and a concrete boat ramp that makes launching a boat easy at high tide. Two hours either side of low tide your will have to launch your boat from the sand.
  • Army Bay: This boat ramp is situated near the end of the Peninsula on the North side opposite Shakespeare Regional Park. At high tide this is a great ramp to launch from, very steep and don't have to get your wheels wet. At low tide you will have to launch and retrieve from the sand.
  • Gulf Harbour: This boat has recently been upgraded and no has a break water to shelter it from the wind. Great boat ramp in any conditions and at any tide. Has a floating jetting that make loading people and gear easy. This ramp is on the South side of the Peninsula in Gulf Harbour.

Launching a boat from the Whangaparaoa Peninsula will also give you much easier access to several stunning islands and more sheltered fishing locations.

Islands such as Tiritiri Matangi, Motuora, Kawau and Saddle Island are all within 30 minute by boat.
